In CRUSHING ON LOVE…
Steve Johnson is living his life’s passion watching over the Colorado Mountains as a ranger and wildlife consultant. But his peaceful life is upended when overzealous and insanely beautiful Shannon Braden flits back into his life after returning from a brief trip home to Maryland. He thought his attraction to her was under control—after all, she’s only in Colorado temporarily, and he doesn’t do casual affairs.
Shannon’s return to Colorado has as much to do with the game of cat and mouse she and Steve have been playing as it does the data she’s been hired to collect. But despite her efforts to explore the undeniable heat simmering between them, Steve’s intent on keeping his distance.
When a ranch abutting the national park goes up for sale, Steve will do whatever it takes to keep it from falling into the wrong hands. And when all his attempts fail, he’s left with no alternative but to follow Shannon’s guidance into the online world he abhors in order to raise the funds. The more time they spend together, the deeper their attraction becomes, and a game of cat and mouse turns into an unstoppable connection. But when Shannon’s assignment comes to an end, will it mean an end to them, too?
The Bradens are part of the Love in Bloom big family romance collection. Characters from each sub-series appear in future books.
5 ***** Scorching hot yet heart-melting romance
“She was brighter than the sun and he was the shadows between the trees” – This is one of my favorite quotes from the book. It summarizes them both so well. Just as light and darkness need each other to exist, Shannon and Steve are better together than apart. That doesn’t mean an easy decision for them to make. I’m not one to write spoilers as I don’t like reading them. So don’t worry, this is a given when you read the blurb.
All I’ll say is that Crushing on Love is a sexy romance between a smart-ass but sweet young woman who’s actively in search of herself and a recluse yet swoon-worthy man looking for a way to connect with people, even though he doesn’t know he is.
I was pulled in from the opening scene to the very ending and lost my breath multiple times in between. I loved their banter and their sweet moments, but their sexy ones were my favorite. Not only because I write erotic stories, but because they were equal parts scorching hot and heart-melting sweet.
Crunching on love has got all one can expect in a good romance novel: believable characters, engaging plot, gorgeous setting, and delicious conclusion.
In Shannon’s father’s very wise words, “Roots run deep, darlin’, and they don’t come unearthed because of a little distance”. No spoiler, sweetie. Just a teaser. LOL
One final warning, do not – I repeat do not – start reading this late at night as I did because you won’t put it down. I need to get up in a couple of hours, but I just had to finish it. It is that good.
