WRITING PROCESS

by Celeste Grande

My writing process is unique. I work a full time “day” job in Manhattan that requires a two hour commute each way. This is both a blessing and a curse. It’s four hours of my life every day that was essentially wasted…until I started writing. Live Me was completely written while commuting during those four hours…enter where it became a blessing. It’s not quiet by any means, but I tend to block it out and think that the outside noise around me actually serves as a better atmosphere for me. I’ve tried to write in quieter conditions and it doesn’t seem to flow as easily. However, I have an equally hard time trying to write while I have music on, even if it’s a song inspiring a scene. I’ll have to pause as I go.

So, I hand-write. I’ve tried to type, but again, it just doesn’t flow comfortably for me. Possibly because I really am a crappy typist. So I find myself going back to correct words and then losing my train of thought and where I was or what exactly I wanted to say.

I then type what I’ve written during my lunch hour at work. It makes everything take longer, but it also allows for extra editing because while I’m typing, I’m fixing and thickening the scenes.

After it’s typed, I print out the chapter so I can read it on paper and I take a red pen to it. By the time it gets to my CP, it’s already been through essentially two rounds of edits by me. Then I make the CP’s changes and then I send it out to betas. (This could all be why Live Me took three years to write and edit and release)

I am a mix between a plotter and a pantster.  I need to have down the major happenings of a story, but then I just write. I don’t stick to guidelines of what’s to happen in each chapter and I often find my very bold characters changing where I wanted to go with things anyway. 😉

After ALL of that, I have two editors, one who does more than one round, and a proofreader. Phew! That’s a lot of work for words, yeah?

Synopsis:

Broken…

Shattered…

How can you begin to live again when you’ve already been forced to…die?

Evangelina Ricci is trapped in a world that’s a never-ending nightmare, a constant ache in which consumes her every breath. Unable to bear the torture any longer, she does the one thing she can to take back control.

Run.

With her best friend Jace in tow, Evangelina attempts to escape her darkened past by leaving for college and diving head first into an aggressive schedule, determined with everything she is to make a name for herself. There’s only one problem—she can’t run away from the demons she struggles with. The demons that’ll forever be there, locked inside, battering her soul. Hiding behind a flawless façade, Evangelina faces her ghosts until her world is turned upside down, invaded by…him.

Blake Turner. Sweet, witty, flirtatious and drop-dead gorgeous, he finds Evangelina at every turn. Scared he’ll uncover the truth she keeps so well guarded, Evangelina tries her best to put on her act, deterring him like she has so many times before—only this guy’s different. He’s relentless. Utterly, absolutely and completely relentless. He sees her and he wants her and won’t stop until she’s his.

Will Evangelina succeed in pushing Blake away? Or will he break down her walls and be the person to make her realize life is worth living?
