Four Amazing Places to Eat Breakfast and One Brunch
by Aidee Ladnier

Liz asked me if I had some favorite breakfast places and as I’ve traveled several places in the U.S., I do have a few that are memorable.

  1. Breakfast at the Luxor. I’ll start my list with a breakfast buffet. My DH and I made a pilgrimage to the center of adult entertainment, Las Vegas, several years ago. It was everything we’d expected, over bright, a little loud, and over-the-top but we totally enjoyed our stay there. One of the highlights was our breakfast at the Luxor Hotel. We made a pact to eat a meal in a different hotel every day we stayed there and the Luxor with its pyramidal structure was on our list. The buffet was located in a lower dining room and decorated like an archeological dig site. The food was good, the décor punched all my geeky buttons, and the company was spectacular. A+
  2. My DH loves rockabilly music. Because of that we often end up traveling to Nashville to take in a show and inevitably find out of the ordinary eateries to wake us back up after a night of rocking out. One favorite is Noshville, a New York style delicatessen located in Midtown. DH is a huge fan of the griddle cakes, but there are also some amazing silver dollar potato cakes you can get with sour cream and applesauce. I’m also a fan of the blintzes and the Nosh Benedict made with corn beef hash. Food should always be an adventure!
  3. Elysian Fields Inn. When the DH and I visited New Orleans before Hurricane Katrina, we were looking for a place to stay near the French Quarter that would be a little more personable than a hotel room. We found the Elysian Fields Inn. Built in the 1860’s, it’s a grand dame of a home, spacious, and filled with gorgeous antiques. Although the inn has since changed hands from the innkeepers we knew, it’s still receiving rave reviews on Trip Advisor. And the breakfasts are still getting great comments. If you want to be healthy, try the yogurt, fresh fruit and granola. But if you want your soul satisfied, then you must have the strawberry stuffed French toast made with crusty French bread. Yum!
  4. Hotel Savoy. Another great place DH and I stayed was the Hotel Savoy in Kansas City. Built in the late 1800s, it hosted the elite of Kansas City and once employed a very young Harry Truman who went on to become President of the United States. It is possibly the oldest continuously operated hotel west of the Mississippi River. The breakfast room is decorated on one side wholly with art deco stained glass windows that let the morning sunshine stream into the room of white tablecloths and tuxedoed waiters. And the menu was just as opulent. It contained oysters, caviar, and lobster bisque alongside the more traditional bacon, eggs, and fresh fruit. Impeccable service and unforgettable food.

And here’s an extra—a place that doesn’t open until brunch but more than worth a visit:

  1. Gryphon Tea Room. I felt like I’d stepped into another country when I walked into the Gryphon Tea Room in Savannah, Georgia. It’s all dark, gleaming wood and bookshelves with ornate lighting fixtures. Order tea and the formally attired waiters will bring you a proper pot as well as a little étagère full of pastries or even better fresh scones with butter and jam.

So these are my favorite places for breakfast. Do you have any favorites?

Thanks for this lovely post, Aidee. Personally, my favorites would be Bellagio in LV, The Court of Two Sisters in NOLA, my sister’s house in KC, and I haven’t been to Nashville or Savannas, so I still haven’t got a favorite.  ❤

Best of luck with all you do!

The Moonlight Market

by Aidee Ladnier

GENRE:  LGBTTQ, Fantasy & Paranormal, New Adult

BLURB:

College senior Cory Long tracked his missing sister to the magical Moonlight Market to bring her home. Instead, he found a disorienting world of performers and hawkers, bizarre sights and sounds, and one very familiar showman, Sanderson Beets. Like a drowning man, he latched onto Sanderson, trusting him to navigate the twists and turns of the Market as unerringly as he had steered Cory to passion in their furtive trysts on campus.

But Sanderson was tired of being the quickie in the alley.

Sanderson Beets had escaped the Moonlight Market to attend college, hoping to settle into a normal life, maybe meet someone and fall in love. To obtain that new life he made a dangerous bargain. And when the sinister woman known as the Weaver of Dreams is involved, second chances always come with strings attached…and sacrifices. Sanderson’s debt has come due, and the only payment he has to offer is Cory, and their chance at a relationship.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Three:
He almost ignored it.
Almost.
Tiny bells tinkled nearby.
They sounded closer.
His skin tightened with goose bumps.
Niari glided into the pool of light cast by the lantern hanging on the back of the tent. Her long, inky dress brushed the bells on her ankles and pulled the shadows forward with her.
“Your debt is coming due.” Her trilling, accented voice floated over the noise from the fairway beyond. In front of the tent children giggled and laughed, the calliope blared out its joyous concert, and the lanterns burned away the darkness. But Sanderson stood in the shadows behind…with her.
Sweat coated his palm, and it slipped from the curtain. He swiped at the bead of perspiration on his upper lip, the pit of his stomach icing into a lump.
“I found someone.” He blurted out the words. “A lost soul. Someone who’s lost something.”
Panic bloomed in Sanderson’s chest. Was he actually going to offer Cory to the Weaver? Cory who just wanted to find his missing sister. Cory of the soft hair, bitable nipples, and beautiful, slim cock. Who made Sanderson feel normal. Like a regular guy.
“Good.” Her smile widened, filled with too many tiny teeth that gleamed bright in the lantern light. “Are they tasty and ripe?”
“Madame?” Sanderson’s gut twisted at the hard glitter in her eyes. A chill crept down his spine. She looked…hungry.
He blinked. Niari stood before him, still and silent, waiting, just a woman again. The malevolent flash must have been a trick of the dim light. He shrugged off the unease and shook the numbness from his fingers.
My Review
5*** Original setting, good story
I loved the unusual setting and the author’s style. This is a good M/M romance story, with well-written characters and plot in a refreshingly new setting. I loved reading about these characters. Moonlight Market was a great read and I can’t wait to read more from Aidee Ladnier.
  1. It has been a great tour! Thanks for following along. I am continually in search of the perfect cup of coffee. The best I ever had was Brazilian and I swear they squeezed a little bit of orange oil into it. So delicious!
  2. It’s been a great tour! I’m not always ragingly hungry in the morning (though that usually changes later), so I’m more of a coffee-place breakfaster…
  3. I totally understand. I recently posted an instagram of my breakfast and it was #antifoodporn – peanut butter on toast with a side of cottage cheese and coffee. #I’mNotLivingTheGlamourousLlife – but vacations are where you get to be adventurous and try new things. I’m just lucky my vacations have included awesome breakfasts!
  4. OOooo! That’s difficult. What about “I write out of the box plots where quirky characters living in unusual places often stumble into love.”
  5. Thanks for sharing your favorite breakfast places. Now I wish I could have a special breakfast and not just cold cereal this morning. (sigh).
    Thanks also for the tour!
